Kumar Brahma
Red Cap in India
Kumar Brahma is a local conservationist and an active social worker. Active in many communities throughout the fringe villages around Manas National Park, he is an idol of biodiversity conservation among the local Bodo community. He has been fighting for the cause of wildlife and their habitat since 1999 and has been awarded the prestigious Honorary Wildlife Warden for two consecutive years (2003-05) by the Assam Forest Department.
Kumar's experience with human-elephant conflict is an old account, as he has observed the co-existence between human and elephant gradually turning into conflict in due course of time. During his long experience in the field of conservation, Kumar Brahma was confronted with many unforgettable experiences, some good and some terrible. In the period of social unrest he even went through life threatening situations. But, he did not stop and continued his effort to save the biodiversity resources of Manas.
Kumar Brahma is in our team since November 2009.
