SEMINARS

You represent a town, a company, or a local savings bank preparing for its annual meeting and Awely might provide you with a seminar. At this point, we propose two conference topics related to our developing programs for people and animals:

.Species conservation and development
Or how to help keep endangered species alive on a planet that each day has more and more inhabitants? In this seminar, you will discover the actual context of bio-diversity conservation, but also, through examples of Awely’s projects in the field, how at same time addressing poverty must be understood as an essential element. Through images and descriptions, you will visit the villagers fighting to protect their culture from elephants or rhinos, as well as glimpse forests where our nearest primate cousins, the bonobos, are every year fewer and fewer.

.Bonobo, our nearest cousin

You are invited to become familiar with a fascinating species. This great ape uniquely from the Congo forests shares more than 98% of our human genetic makeup. They are able to recognize themselves in a mirror, they make love facing each other, kiss with their tongues, they use sexual contact to resolve group conflicts, all of which never ceases to surprise us. You will discover the surprising expressive behaviour of our cousins whose survival now is threatened by bushmeat hunting and by the destruction of their environment. You will also discover how Awely strives to protect them in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where currently hunters become breeders and bushmeat traders become micro-entrepreneurs.

Seminar duration:
Between 40 and 75 minutes, depending on you.
